Drumstick in Tamarin Sauce (Murungakai Puli)

Ingredients:

  • Drumstick-6
  • Tamarind juice -1/4 cup
  • Onion-1
  • Chili powder-11/2tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
  • Curry Leaves-few
  • Mustard -1/4tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/4tsp
  • Methi seed - 2 pinch

Method:
  1. Cook the drumstick in water and drain it.
  2. Once it is cooled take out the inner pulp.
  3. In a Kadai add mustard seeds, methi seeds, urud dal, curry leaves and onion and cook them for 4 minutes and add the chili powder and pulp.
  4. Cook till the raw smell is gone.
  5. Now add the tamarin juice, turmeric powder and cook till the mixture becomes thick. If you need you can add a little bit of sugar. It enhances the flavour.
  6. Add salt to taste.
  7. Serve with white rice.
